The company was founded in March 2006 by Jon Holmes and four colleagues and friends with more than 70 years' combined experience of developing, marketing and supporting high technology products into worldwide markets. This team is supplemented by senior figures with commercial, financial and marketing expertise. Management is advised by some leading figures from the world of cancer research, including maxillofacial surgeon Mr Colin Hopper (University College Hospital), medical imaging scientist Dr Jeffrey Bamber (Institute of Cancer Research), and Professor of Dermatology Dan Siegel (SUNY Downstate, NY).
Michelson Diagnostics is primarily targeting cancer (for example, screening, diagnosis, staging, treatment planning and guidance, and monitoring), but our products are also finding applications in commercial skin products research, in genetics (developmental biology) and in industrial metrology.
The company is backed by funds from the Management Team and from a consortium of investors, including London Seed Capital Ltd, Catapult Venture Managers Ltd, and business angels from the London Business Angels and OION networks.
Sales of our first Multi-Beam OCT product, the EX1301 OCT Microscope, commenced in early 2008, and the company is growing rapidly. In July 2009, we launched the VivoSight OCT scanner with hand-held probe, for imaging skin and surface tissue.
